MANCHESTER, N.H. – Fourteen separate Hawks recorded at least one point as the Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team cruised past Southern New Hampshire University in Saturday night's Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) contest at the Ice Den Arena, coming away with a 9-1 victory.
Highlights
- A total of 14 players recorded at least a point, with half posting multi-point performances.
- Junior Patrick DeMarinis led the scoring with a hat trick on six shots on goal. He also posted a +4 on-ice rating in the victory. Freshman Sean Connolly (1-2-3), sophomore Justin Tremblay (1-2-3), and senior Cam Collins (0-3-3) also recorded three points apiece.
- Tremblay and classmate Sebastian Rogles each notched their first collegiate goals.
- Junior netminder Cam Carroll made 21 saves in the victory.
- The Hawks outshot the Penmen, 47-22, while also earning the faceoff edge, 38-25. Collins went 15-for-25 (75.0%) from the dot.
- Saint Anselm went 4-for-9 (44.4%) on the power play, while only committing two infractions.
- Saint Anselm's lead in the all-time series against SNHU increased to 47-14-4 with the result. The Hawks have now gone unbeaten in their last seven head-to-head contests with the Penmen.
How it Happened
Saint Anselm got on the board first as sophomore Justin Tremblay finished a feed from senior Cam Collins in the slot to put the Hawks up just 7:55 into the opening period. The Penmen responded 3:10 later with their lone power play goal to level the score at 1-1. The Hawks would regain their lead in the final two minutes of the frame as senior Jon Myers crashed the net and buried a rebound to make it 2-1 with a power play tally before the intermission.
Saint Anselm scored four second-period goals to lead 6-1 following 40 minutes of play. Junior Patrick DeMarinis tipped in a cross-crease feed from sophomore Keaton Richards 2:31 into the action to make it 3-1. Nine minutes later, freshman Sebastian Rogles notched his first collegiate goal, firing home a loose puck in the slot to make it a three-goal lead in favor of the guests. Freshman Sean Connolly fired in a wrister with 4:23 left in the period, marking his first collegiate goal, to make it 5-1 before sophomore Conor Kelly added a power play strike in the final 1:40.
DeMarinis scored twice in a 2:02 span in the closing minutes of the third period to secure the hat trick, both on the man-advantage. Junior Steve Armstrong scored the contest last goal with 17 seconds to play, ripping in a wrist shot.

The Hawks (1-4-1, 1-2-1 NE10) will face off against Franklin Pierce University (4-2-0, 3-0-0 NE10) on Friday night in the first of two road clashes at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
