WORCESTER, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College women's volleyball team defeated Assumption University, 3-1, in a non-conference contest at Andrew Laska Gymnasium on Tuesday.

Highlights
- Sophomore Taylor Lacerda led the Hawks with career-highs of 17 kills on a .471 attack percentage, 5 service aces, 18 digs, and 22 points, while recording her fourth double-double of the season. Lacerda's previous career-high of 16 kills came against Assumption a season ago.
- Saint Anselm improves to 38-21 all-time against Assumption, including 15 of the last 16 matches.
- Freshman Mckenna O'Connell recorded a career-high 48 assists, tied for the eighth most by a Hawk in a four-set match in program history. O'Connell also tallied three kills and eight digs in the win.
- Junior Melis Kocak had a season-high 11 kills on an impressive .429 attack percentage.
- Freshman Peyton Elward recorded a career-high 12 kills with one ace and one solo block for 14 points.
- Junior Sam Pila had a career day on the offensive end, recording nine kills, three aces, and a solo block for 13 points to go with 13 digs and two assists.
- Junior Madeline Burke notched 20 digs while senior Skylar Ryan had 16 while defending the back line for the Hawks.
How it Happened
SET 1 | The Hawks went down early in the first set, but a trio of kills from Elward gave Saint Anselm a 14-11 lead. The Greyhounds responded with the next four points to take a one-point lead, 15-14. Saint Anselm rallied, going up by two points, reaching set point, 24-22, but Assumption rallied with four straight scores to steal the first set, 26-24.
SET 2 | An early 6-0 run with a pair of kills from Lacerda catapulted the Hawks to a 10-4 lead. Assumption cut the deficit to just two, 16-14, but Saint Anselm dominated for the remainder of the set, scoring nine of the next 11 points, capped off by a Lacerda kill to win the frame, 25-16.
SET 3 | Assumption jumped out to a 5-1 advantage before Kocak started a rally with a pair of kills for Saint Anselm as the Hawks retook the lead, 9-8. The difference was one point late in the match, 21-20, but Saint Anselm slammed the door on the third set, with Lacerda clinching the frame with another kill, 25-20.
SET 4 | The beginning of the fourth set was back-and-forth as Saint Anselm led by one, 11-10. Four different Hawks recorded kills during a 6-1 run that boosted Saint Anselm's lead to six, 17-11. A pair of kills from Pila put the match out of reach as the Hawks won the fourth and final set, 25-15.
