How it Happened

SET 1 | O'Connell was aggressive to open the match, notching two kills as the Hawks took a 7-3 lead. Saint Anselm's offense carried its momentum to a six-point lead, 18-12, but a 6-1 run by AIC made it a one-point difference, 19-18. The Yellow Jackets took the lead, 22-21, and after some back-and-forth scoring, junior Hollyn Frano put the set away with a kill, 27-25, to put the Hawks in front, 1-0.

SET 2 | Saint Anselm scored six of the first seven points in the second set, but AIC put together a run of its own to take a 15-12 lead. A pair of errors from the Yellow Jackets helped the Hawks retake the lead, 21-20, but five of the final seven scores went to AIC to tie the match at 1-1, 25-23.

SET 3 | Despite the Hawks pulling within one point of the Yellow Jackets at seven different points in the third set, AIC led for the entirety of the frame, winning and taking a 2-1 match lead, 25-21.

SET 4 | The beginning of the fourth started as a back-and-forth contest, but a 7-1 run by the Yellow Jackets helped them pull away as AIC led for the duration of the set, winning 25-14, securing the match win in four sets.
