Men's Track & Field Commences Inaugural Outdoor Season at Penmen Relays

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's track & field team commenced their inaugural outdoor season at the Southern New Hampshire University 5th Annual Penmen Relays on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Sophomore Jaidin Haynes (Sayreville, N.J.) earned second place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.17.
  • In the 200-meter dash, senior Zach Verow (Bedford, N.H.) finished 10th overall after clocking in at 23.56 out of 62 competitors.
  • Quintin Quirrenbach secured fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.83 followed closely behind by freshman Matthew McLaughlin (Brookline, N.H.) in fifth finishing in 52.02.
  • Freshman James Cognata (Winthrop, Maine) earned third place in the 800 meter run after clocking in at 1:58.36.
  • In the 400-meter hurdles, junior Anthony Pasquarosa (Beverly, Mass.) finished in seventh place with a time of 1:02.40.
  • The Hawks captured a third-place finish in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:35.15 featuring senior Cillian Davis (Plymouth, Mass.), freshman Noah Carriere (Wilmington, Mass.), freshmanTaishaun Jackson (Hudson, N.H.), and Pasquarosa.  
  • In the long jump event, Haynes captured a second-place finish with a jump of 6.65 meters which also was the best mark out of all Division II competitors in the event.
  • Senior Rocco Basso (Millis, Mass.) threw 12.56-meters in the shot put event, good for fifth place.
HAWKS SPOTLIGHT: 
  • "I am very excited that the spring season is getting started," said junior Anthony Pasquarosa (Beverly, Mass.). "We have a very driven and talented team. On both the men's and women's sides of our team there is an overwhelming sense of support. Everyone has a shared goal in mind, and it makes the hard days of practice easier. This team is very exciting to be a part of and I'm so grateful for the coaching staff that we have. All our coaches genuinely care about all the members of our team both on and off the track. This is our first outdoor season and everyone from top to bottom is ready to show off what we have been working so hard for. This season is going to be the foundation for a great program with a great tradition." 
HAWKS SPOTLIGHT:  
  • "Although our opening meet was later than we wanted, the team was ready and itching to compete," said head coach Brian Stankiewicz. "We had a lot of impressive performances and know where we need to improve. We're excited for next week."
