EUGENE, Ore. – Freshman Logan Montgomery (Weare, N.H.) of the Saint Anselm College men's track and field team capped a standout first collegiate season by placing eighth in the finals of the men's 400-meter dash on Friday at the 2025 USATF U20 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted at the University of Oregon.

Montgomery clocked in at 47.40 seconds in the championship race, finishing eighth out of nine competitors. He advanced to the final with a personal-best time of 47.38 seconds in Thursday's preliminary round.

The U20 national meet concludes a historic debut season for Montgomery on the Hilltop. He earned six U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors across the indoor and outdoor seasons and was named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year in both indoor and outdoor competition.

"We are incredibly proud of the season Logan had," says Peter Early, Director of Track & Field and Cross Country. "We can't wait to see what the future holds for him here on the Hilltop."

Montgomery opened his collegiate career by winning the 600-meter race at the Plymouth State Winter Classic in December. He later captured gold in the 400-meter at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational and went on to win three more 400-meter titles throughout the spring.

Montgomery took first place in the 400-meter at the NE10 Outdoor Championships with a time of 47.39 seconds, the fastest in NCAA Division II's East Region this season and more than a second faster than the runner-up. During the indoor season, he won the NE10 title in the same event with a then-collegiate best time of 47.82 seconds.
