KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three members of the Saint Anselm College women's soccer program were recognized with United Soccer Coaches All-East Region honors at the conclusion of the season. Senior
Riley DiGilio (Danvers, Mass.) was named to the All-East Region First Team, while seniors
Erin Rutherford (Ashburnham, Mass.) and
Allison Silverstein (Concord, N.H.) were named to the All-East Region Second Team. All three student-athletes earned this recognition for the first time in their careers.
DiGilio finished her career with a bang in her final season on the Hilltop. The All-NE10 Second Team selection set single season career-highs in goals, assists, and points. Across 18 starts this past fall, the senior forward posted a team-best 10 goals and dished out five assists for a team-high 25 points. She ranked second in the conference in goals, was tied for sixth in assists, and was tied for second in points. She was also named the NE10 Player of the Week on October 21st following a two-goal game at Assumption. DiGilio wrapped up her career with 15 goals and 12 assists for 42 points while starting in all 62 games she appeared in across four seasons of play.
Rutherford was another member of the All-NE10 Second Team following a solid senior campaign anchoring the Saint Anselm back line. The senior back started in all 19 games this past fall for Saint Anselm and led the team with a single season career-high of six assists, a figure which stood as the fifth-most in the league. She recorded a pair of multi-assist games, including one against nationally ranked No. 13 Southern New Hampshire on November 6th. She finished her career with four goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 71 matches played, 47 of which she started.
A two-time All-NE10 Second Team selection, Silverstein earns a spot on an All-East Region Team for the very first time. The senior was a maestro in the midfield for Saint Anselm this season, oftentimes pulling the strings to facilitate the Hawks attack. She scored one goal and added one assist in her final season, but her impact went beyond the box score. She started in all 19 games and logged nearly 1,500 minutes, which was among the most on the team for field position players. Silverstein ended her illustrious career with six goals and three assists for 15 points in 64 games played, 48 of which she started.
Saint Anselm ended the season with an overall record of 5-4-10. They went 2-2-6 in conference play and earned a berth in the NE10 postseason for the fourth consecutive season as the No. 6 seed. The Hawks upset No. 3 seed and nationally ranked Southern New Hampshire in the Quarterfinals after winning in a penalty shootout before falling in the Semifinals to No. 2 seed and nationally ranked Franklin Pierce, 2-0.
