MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College softball team opens its Northeast-10 Conference postseason in the Quarterfinals Round against crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire University from Garden City, N.Y. on Thursday, May 4.
Tickets will be sold upon entry to the Janet L. Finke Field or online
here and will cost $10 for adults. Youth (under 18 years of age) and senior citizens may gain entry for $5 with students from Northeast-10 institutions admitted free of charge with valid institutional identification.

The Hawks wrapped up the regular season with a 25-14-1 overall record after earning a conference doubleheader split on Apr. 28 to conclude the regular season. Saint Anselm grabbed the fourth-seed for the conference postseason tournament which earned them a bye through the First Round and into the Quarterfinals.
The Penmen, who are the eighth-seed in the postseason championship, opened the NE10 postseason with a 3-2 win over the fifth-seed Pace University on May 2. Southern New Hampshire is 20-21 on the season entering the battle with the Hawks.
The winner of this Quarterfinal Round game will advance into the Semifinals Round and will meet the top-seed and tournament host, Adelphi University on Friday, May 5. That contest is scheduled for a 12 p.m. first pitch.
HAWKS NOTES
- Senior Kylie Fitzpatrick (Danville, N.H.), junior Gracie O'Hara (Shrewsbury, Mass.), and sophomore Ava Caputo (Waterford, N.Y.) all collected All-Conference First Team honors on Wednesday while senior Kate Irwin (Milford, Mass.) and junior Haile Hicks (Jefferson, N.H.) were named to the Second Team.
- Fitzpatrick and O'Hara were also named to the All-Defensive Team at second base and third base respectively.
- O'Hara leads the Hawks and ranks fifth in the conference with a .390 batting average. The junior has been credited with 48 hits, 19 of which have gone for extra bases. O'Hara leads Saint Anselm with five home runs and is second with 32 runs batted in.
- Caputo is second on the squad with a .381 batting average and is the Hawks leader with 53 hits on the season. The sophomore is also the Saint Anselm leader with 33 runs batted in in 2023.
- The sophomore needs 12 hits to reach 100 for her collegiate career as she sits on 88 in 79 career games.
- Fitzpatrick and Irwin are third and fourth on the roster with .377 and .353 batting averages while sophomore Alyssa Wironen (Leominster, Mass.) is fifth at .302.
- Irwin leads the Hawks with 17 stolen bases this season in 19 attempts, good for a 0.895 stolen base percentage.
- Hicks has totaled 138.0 innings pitched this season in 23 appearances, 20 of which have been starts. The junior has an earned-run average of 1.32 which is second lowest in the conference and has 168 strikeouts.
- Sophomore Sophia DiPippo (Cranston, R.I.) has drawn 16 starts while senior Ava Vincequere (Shrewsbury, Mass.) has started in each of her last three appearances and gone the distance in each of them.
- The Hawks defense is operating at a 0.959 fielding percentage which ranks sixth in the conference. The team has committed 46 errors in 1,116 chances.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
- The Penmen placed six student-athletes on the All-Conference rosters including Alyssa DiMauro who leads the squad with a .331 batting average.
- DiMauro leads the Penmen with 42 hits through 41 games this season.
- Jordyn Resetar is second on the team at .289 while Bella Dickinson, who was also an All-NE10 Second Team selection, is third at .275. The duo also ranks second and third on the team in hits with 37 and 36 each respectively.
- Dickinson is the Southern New Hampshire leader with four home runs and 23 runs batted in while Abby Lineman is second with three big flies and 20 runs batted in.
- Gwyn Hammond, Hannah DeRock, and Leine McKechnie have drawn 15, 14, and 12 starts each for Southern New Hampshire from the pitching circle. MeKechnie is the team leader with 35 appearances on the season, totaling 138.1 innings pitched with a 2.99 earned-run average.
- Defensively, Southern New Hampshire is third in the conference with a 0.963 fielding percentage. The team has been hit with 45 errors in 1,228 chances through 41 games this season.
ALL-TIME, NORTHEAST-10 POSTSEASON
- The Hawks are making their 19th appearance in the NE10 postseason. Saint Anselm is 23-22 all-time in the conference tournament.
- Saint Anselm has made three appearances in the Championship Final, all of which have come in the last three seasons. The Hawks have won two conference titles and finished as the runner-up once.
- The Hawks and Penmen last met in the NE10 tournament on May 6, 2021. Saint Anselm took that contest by an 8-0 score in six innings to advance to the NE10 Division Finals.
ALL-TIME vs. SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
- The Hawks and Penmen have met on 95 occasions in the all-time series. Southern New Hampshire holds a slight 48-47 edge in the series.
- The programs split their doubleheader on Apr. 8. Saint Anselm posted an 8-0 win in five innings in game one before the Penmen registered six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a comeback win in game two by a 6-5 score.
