Semons turns in two-over 74 in round two of NCAA Atlantic/East Regional

LEBANON, Pa. – Senior Drew Semons (Danvers, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College men's golf team posted a two-over 74 in round two of the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional from the Iron Valley Golf Club in Lebanon, Pa.

Semons is the top individual student-athlete on the leaderboard at two-over, which puts him in a tie for fourth among all the student-athletes in the tournament. Semons sits at a total of 146 for the event, adding Friday's 74 to Thursday's 72.

The senior will tee off on Saturday, May 13 at 10:50 a.m. for his final round of the event with Pablo Hidalgo from Felician and Ryan D'Ariano from West Chester.

Donte Groppuso from Saint Thomas Aquinas leads the field after adding a three-under 69 with yesterday's score, also a three-under 69.

Davis & Elkins leads the team portion of the event with a team score of 18-over while Le Moyne is second at 22-over. Saint Thomas Aquinas and Fayetteville State are tied for third at 26-over par.

Semons opened his round with three bogeys in the first five holes. However, the senior responded with four-consecutive pars including one on the most difficult hole of the day, the par-three eighth. Semons would go on to close his front nine with a 39.

After posting a par on the 10th, Semons converted on his first of three birdies on the par-four 11th and then added a par on the par-three 12th.

The senior would double bogey the par-five 13th and after a par on 14, fired a birdie, an eagle, and another birdie on holes 15, 16, and 17 to pull back even on his round.

Semons closed his round with a double bogey as he turned in a one-under 35 on the back nine to total his 74.

Through 36 holes of play, Semons is tied for second in the field with a 3.00 scoring average on the par threes. Between the pair of rounds, the senior has totaled 21 pars, six birdies, and one eagle.
