The Hawks took all four games in their pair of conference doubleheaders on Apr. 3 and Apr. 4 against Le Moyne College and The College of Saint Rose. With the four wins, Saint Anselm improved to 15-9 on the season and 5-3 in NE10 contests. Following the crosstown trip, the Hawks will head to Saint Michael's College for a league twinbill on Tuesday, Apr. 11 with game times slated for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The Penmen swept Saint Rose on Apr. 3 before splitting with Le Moyne the following day which moved Southern New Hampshire to 11-13 overall and 4-4 in NE10 games. After hosting the Hawks, the Penmen will head to Rindge, N.H. to battle Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday, Apr. 11.
HAWKS NOTES
- Game one of the doubleheader with the Golden Knights marked the 1,500th game for the Saint Anselm College softball program. All-time, Saint Anselm is 780-717-4 in softball.
- Junior Gracie O'Hara (Shrewsbury, Mass.) eclipsed the 100-career hits mark in game one against the Dolphins. O'Hara leads the Hawks with a .375 batting average and is tied for the team lead with 27 hits this season. 13 of those 27 hits have gone for extra bases. The junior also leads the Hawks and ranks fourth in the conference with 24 runs batted in.
- Sophomore Ava Caputo (Waterford, N.Y.) is tied with O'Hara for the Hawks lead in hits at 27. Caputo is batting .355 this season and ranks second on the team with 16 runs batted in.
- Seniors Kylie Fitzpatrick (Danville, N.H.) and Kate Irwin (Milford, Mass.) are batting .359 and .323 respectively this season. Fitzpatrick ranks third on the team with 23 hits while Irwin is fourth at 20.
- Irwin is tied for fifth in the NE10 with 11 stolen bases this season. The senior is 11-for-12 in stolen base attempts in 2023 and is sixth all-time in career stolen bags at 34. She needs one more to move into a tie for fifth and can take over fourth with six stolen bases.
- Junior Haile Hicks (Jefferson, N.H.) and sophomore Sophia DiPippo (Cranston, R.I.) collected a pair of wins each from the pitching circle against Le Moyne and Saint Rose.
- Hicks is second in the conference with a 0.93 earned-run average and is second with 10 wins. Hicks ranks third in the NE10 at 104 strikeouts in 83.0 innings pitched.
- DiPippo has a 3.25 ERA in 47.1 innings pitched. The sophomore owns a 4-5 record in 11 starts this season.
- The Saint Anselm defense ranks fifth in the conference with a 0.958 fielding percentage. The team has committed 27 errors in 647 total chances.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
- Peyton Feldman has posted a .353 batting average this season, collecting 18 hits in 51 at-bats. Feldman leads the Penmen offense in batting average.
- Alyssa DiMauro and Bella Dickinson are tied for the Southern New Hampshire lead with 23 hits apiece with Jordyn Resetar following closely at 22.
- Bella Dickinson leads the Penmen with two home runs and is second in RBIs at 12. Abby Lineman holds the top spot on the roster with 15 RBIs this season.
- Hannah DeRock has started a team-high 10 games this season. She is 3-3 with 2.54 earned-run average in 30.1 innings pitched. Leine McKechnie has made 22 appearances from the pitching circle, totaling 83.0 innings pitched. McKechnie has fanned 64 batters and owns a 2.87 ERA.
- Southern New Hampshire owns third best fielding percentage in the conference at .960. The team has committed 27 errors in 683 chances.
ALL-TIME vs. SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
- The Hawks and Penmen have met on 93 occasions in the all-time series. Southern New Hampshire holds a slight 47-46 edge in the series.
- The programs split their doubleheader in the 2022 season from the South Athletic Fields. The Hawks took game one of the Apr. 10 twinbill by a 6-0 score before the Penmen collected a 1-0 win in game two.
