MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior
Lucas Dascoli (Everett, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College men's golf team has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday.
The Hawks overcame an 11-shot deficit at the Golden Knights Orlando Invitational on Mar. 27 and Mar. 28 to capture the tournament win, which marked the first event win for Saint Anselm since the fall of the 2018-19 season. Saint Anselm later played to a 298-298 tie against Southern New Hampshire University from Candia Woods Golf Club on Apr. 4.
Dascoli finished the Golden Knights Orlando Invitational in a tie for third at two-over. The senior carded a 77 to open the event before posting his collegiate best, a three-under 69, on day two to aid the Hawks in the comeback win.
The senior then finished atop the leaderboard in the dual match with the Penmen with a one-over 72, leading the Hawks to the tie.
On the season, Dascoli has turned in rounds of 79 or lower in 14 of 15 rounds played. Dascoli is averaging 75.7 strokes per round which is second best on the Hawks roster.
Dascoli becomes the first Saint Anselm student-athlete to receive the honor since the 2016-17 season. This is also the first weekly honor in Dascoli's collegiate career.
Dascoli and the Hawks host the Hawks Invitational from the Candia Woods Golf Course in Candia, N.H. on Monday, Apr. 17 and Tuesday, Apr. 18. That tournament marks the final scheduled event for Saint Anselm in the 2022-23 regular season.
