MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College softball team will play a pair of road doubleheaders against Saint Michael's College on Tuesday, Apr. 11 and against Bentley University on Sunday, Apr. 16.
The doubleheader against the Purple Knights is slated for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. starts from Colchester, Vt. while the twinbill against the Falcons is set for starts of 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. from Waltham, Mass.

The Hawks extended a season long winning streak to five games with an 8-0 win in game one of the Apr. 8 doubleheader at Southern New Hampshire. However, the Penmen rallied to take game two to split the Northeast-10 Conference twinbill. Saint Anselm enters the week with a 16-10 overall record and a 6-4 mark in conference games. Following the pair of road doubleheaders, Saint Anselm will host Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday, Apr. 19 before heading to American International College and Assumption University on Saturday, Apr. 22 and Sunday, Apr. 23 for their final road trips of the 2023 regular season.
The Purple Knights split their conference doubleheader against Bentley on Apr. 8. Bentley took game one by a 13-0 score before Saint Michael's posted an 11-4 win in game two. The squad dropped a pair of conference games to Franklin Pierce on Apr. 10 by 6-0 and 7-2 scores, marking its most recent action. Saint Michael's sits at 10-14 on the season with a 3-5 mark in NE10 contests.
The Falcons split each of their last two conference doubleheaders with Franklin Pierce and Saint Michael's, which moves them to 18-10 on the season with a 9-3 record in conference play. Bentley will head to American International on Tuesday, Apr. 11 before hosting Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, Apr. 15 and the Hawks the following day.
HAWKS NOTES
- Sophomore Ava Caputo (Waterford, N.Y.) collected her first career NE10 Player of the Week honors on Monday after collecting 10 hits in 22 at-bats, good for a .454 batting average in six games against Le Moyne, Saint Rose, and Southern New Hampshire.
- Caputo ranks third on the Hawks roster in batting average (.369), trailing senior Kylie Fitzpatrick (Danville, N.H.) and junior Gracie O'Hara (Shrewsbury, Mass.) who are at .386 and .380 respectively.
- Caputo leads the team in hits with 31 while ranking second in runs batted in at 21. O'Hara is the Hawks leader with 24 RBIs and is the team leader with three home runs this season.
- Sophomore Sam Wiberg (Exeter, N.H.) and senior Kate Irwin (Milford, Mass.) are both batting over .300 this season.
- Junior Haile Hicks (Jefferson, N.H.) leads the Hawks pitching staff with 13 starts this season. The junior owns a 1.03 earned-run average and has posted a complete game in all 13 of her starts. Hicks has totaled 88.1 innings pitched and fanned 114 batters in 2023. Hicks is second in the NE10 in ERA and wins while sitting in third in strikeouts.
- Sophomore Sophia DiPippo (Cranston, R.I.) has started in 12 games from the pitching circle and is 4-5 on the season with a 3.39 ERA. DiPippo has totaled 53.2 innings pitched.
- The Saint Anselm defense ranks third in the NE10 with a .960 fielding percentage. The team has committed 28 errors in 693 chances.
SCOUTING SAINT MICHAEL'S
- Jenna Devens leads the Purple Knights offense with 26 hits and with a .377 batting average this season. Devens has also slugged three home runs and driven in 14 runs in 24 games played in 2023.
- Angelica Johns, Hope Hiscock, CJ Davidson, and Jamie Hearn are all batting over .300 this season. Davidson ranks second on the team with 23 hits and is third in RBIs at 10.
- Meghan Connor has totaled 22 hits, good for third on the team, while ranking second in RBIs at 12. Connor joins Devens as the only two student-athletes to appear in all 24 games so far this season.
- Hearn has made 14 appearances, drawing 12 starts for Saint Michael's this season. Hearn is 6-7 in 74.2 innings pitching and owns a 1.88 ERA. Kelleigh Simpson has made eight starts and totaled 36.0 innings from the circle this season.
- The Saint Michael's defense has committed 34 errors in 672 chances this season, which is good for a .949 fielding percentage.
SCOUTING BENTLEY
- Jordan Krause ranks third in the conference with a .464 batting average this season. Krause has recorded 45 hits with 17 of them going for extra bases. Krause has hit six home runs and driven in 28 runs while scoring 32.
- Ella Hillier is second on the team with 32 hits while Kylee Amato, Kaylee Mankins, and Sam Petow are tied for third with 28 hits apiece.
- Mankins and Hillier are second and third on the team in RBIs with 25 and 23 apiece. The duo is batting .318 and .372 each respectively.
- Dahlia Fink and Payton Doiron have made 12 and 10 starts apiece this season. Doiron leads the staff with 70.2 innings pitched with Fink posting 70.0. Doiron has a 2.28 ERA with 93 strikeouts while Fink has a 2.40 and has fanned 42.
- Bentley ranks fourth in the conference with a .959 fielding percentage. The team has had 779 chances and committed 32 errors.
