ORLANDO, Fla. – The Saint Anselm College men's golf team sits in second after day one of the Golden Knights Orlando Invitational on Monday, Mar. 27.
The Hawks posted a team score of 303, which comes in at 15-over par, through the opening 18 holes of the 36-hole event from the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
Franklin Pierce University closed day one in first, sitting at just four-over par. The hosts, The College of Saint Rose, are third at 18-over while Felician University and American International College sit in fourth and fifth at 24-over and 29-over respectively.
Pablo Hidalgo from Felician sits atop the individual leaderboard after carding a six-under 66.
The programs conclude play in the event on Tuesday, Mar. 28 with a second round of 18 holes, scheduled for an 8 a.m. start.
Sophomore
Michael Papamechail (Danvers, Mass.) fired a two-over 74 which was good for seventh on the individual leaderboard. The sophomore carded one birdie and three bogeys to go with 14 pars on his round. Papamechail sat at even par through the front nine before back-to-back bogeys holes 11 and 12 pushed him to the two-over final score.
Senior
Drew Semons (Danvers, Mass.) sits in eighth on the leaderboard after turning in a three-over 75. Semons posted 15 pars and three bogeys on the round with all three coming on the front nine. Nine of Semons' 13 rounds played this season have been at 75 or lower including each of his last four.
Senior
Lucas Dascoli (Everett, Mass.) and junior
Robbie Forti (Danvers, Mass.) are tied for 10th after both posting five-over 75's.
Dascoli battled through the front nine at six-over and opened the back nine with a pair of bogeys. However, the senior birdied hole 13 and eagled the par-five 16th to get his score back to five-over.
Forti turned in a team-high two birdies and added 10 pars to his round. After going four-over through the front nine, the junior was just one-over on the back nine.
Freshman
Anthony Picano (Reading, Mass.) is tied for 19th after carding an 11-over 83 in his opening round. Picano recorded nine pars and seven bogeys on his day, leading to his 83.
