4/1/2022 3:30:00 PM

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College softball team heads to upstate New York this weekend for four games, two against the Dolphins of Le Moyne College on Saturday and two more versus the Golden Knights from the College of Saint Rose on Sunday.

Saint Anselm owns a 9-10 record after two thrilling victories over Pace University on Sunday. Trailing in both ends of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at the South Athletic Fields, the Hawks came from behind twice to lock down league wins.

Le Moyne owns a 9-9 record after splitting with Stonehill in Thursday's doubleheader in Massachusetts. The Dolphins had won three in a row before the game two loss to the Skyhawks, including a victory over Wayne State to conclude their Florida trip in mid-March. The games will be played at Carrier Park in East Syracuse, N.Y.

Saint Rose racked up a 7-12 overall record prior to a Friday doubleheader against Caldwell and a Saturday twinbill against Southern New Hampshire. The Golden Knights have won three of their first four games in NE10 play, dropping its lone game in league play by a one-run margin.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
  • Across the last 40 true road games (contests played at the home field of the opponent), the Hawks own a 35-5 overall record – only one of those defeats was by three runs (L 3-0, 03/21/21 at New Haven) and the rest were one run losses.
  • Saint Anselm swept its first doubleheader of the 2022 season, downing Pace in back-to-back games via scores of 8-5 and 8-7.
  • Pace led by a 3-0 score through the first five-plus innings of game one before Saint Anselm flipped the script with eight runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Senior Bre Klaiber (Ironton, Ohio) had a bases-clearing double as well as a walk-off three-run home run, giving her six runs batted in.
  • In game two, Saint Anselm trailed Pace by a 4-0 margin with just one out recorded in the top of the first and came all the way back to win, scoring six runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined to capture a lead it would not relinquish.
  • Klaiber finished the two-game doubleheader against Pace with seven runs batted in. Her six RBI against the Setters in game one is the most in one game for a Saint Anselm student-athlete since Amy Parece '00 pushed home six runs against Marycrest International on Mar. 9, 1999.
  • Sophomore Haile Hicks (Jefferson, N.H.) earned two pitching victories for Saint Anselm in the circle on the day – she is the first Hawks pitcher to have two wins in one doubleheader since Paige Cormier '15 opened her career with two wins on Feb. 27, 2012 against Davenport and Gannon.

SCOUTING LE MOYNE
  • The Dolphins won the first game against Stonehill by a 6-2 margin before losing by the exact same score in game two. In the opener, Le Moyne trailed by a 1-0 margin through five innings before a five-run top of the sixth inning pushed the Dolphins to victory.
  • Le Moyne led Stonehill by a 1-0 score in the top of the first inning of game two but conceded six runs to the hosts in the third and fourth innings, falling by a four-run margin.
  • Alyssa Dybacz leads the way for the Dolphins with a .429 batting average, rapping 21 hits in 49 at-bats. Isabelle Boudreau is also batting .400 for Le Moyne, scoring 15 runs and producing 20 hits on offense.
  • In the circle, four pitchers have combined for a team earned-run average of 3.25. Laura Bennett can be considered the ace of the Dolphins staff, recording six wins with 72 strikeouts in 57 innings against just nine walks.
  • Le Moyne has just three extra base hits across its prior six games, two of those being home runs.
SCOUTING SAINT ROSE
  • Saint Rose swept Stonehill on Mar. 26 before splitting with Bentley the very next day. The Golden Knights rank third in the NE10 in triples (four), fourth in stolen bases (14) and fourth in triples per game (0.21) – the team has drawn 43 walks, fifth in the NE10.
  • Madison Chandler leads the Golden Knights with a .355 batting average, pounding 22 hits in 62 at-bats. She has also driven in 14 runs for Saint Rose and ranks 25th national with 0.16 triples per game.
  • Hannah Breen leads Saint Rose in pitching appearances with nine, striking out 52 batters across 53 innings of work. She has logged a 3-4 record.
