WINTHROP, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team had two student-athletes collect New England Women's Hockey Alliance weekly awards on Tuesday.

Sophomore forward Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) was selected as the league's Player of the Week while junior defender Savannah Popick (South Windsor, Conn.) picked up the Defensive Player of the Week accolade.

Saint Anselm won each of its three games this past week, blanking Post on Tuesday by a 4-0 margin before locking down a 4-3 overtime win at home against Stonehill on Friday. The Hawks also secured a 3-1 road victory over the Skyhawks on Saturday.

Turner registered at least one point in all three games for the Hawks this past week, opening with an assist at Post on Tuesday before posting two goals in Friday's overtime win. She added another goal on Saturday in a 3-1 victory, finishing with three goals and an assist for four points (3-1=4) on the week.

Popick netted the game-winning overtime goal in Friday's win over Stonehill, scoring the first of her career in the process, and added two assists in the contest for a three-point evening. She also skated to a plus-three on-ice rating in the weekend series with the Skyhawks.

Turner has now won a NEWHA weekly award five times and collects the overall Player of the Week award for the second time (Jan. 25, 2022).

League-leading Saint Anselm will head to in-state foe, Franklin Pierce, on Friday, Nov. 11 in the first leg of a home-and-home series with the Ravens.
