Last time out, the Hawks recorded a 21-12 loss to visiting Assumption University on Saturday, falling at home for just the third time in its last 12 games. All three of those defeats have come at the hands of nationally-regarded programs as the Greyhounds were receiving votes in the American Football Coaches' Association National Poll.

Sophomore Patrick Carroll (Stafford, Va.) racked up all 12 of his team's points on Senior Day, earning NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week honors on Monday by making four field goals and matching the program record for longest field goal made with a 49-yard boot heading into halftime (Erol Senel '03 at Bryant, Oct. 19, 2002).

American International is coming off a major victory over Bentley University, who needed a victory over the Yellow Jackets to maintain its NCAA Division II postseason aspirations. The winless Yellow Jackets stunned the Falcons by an 18-10 margin at Bentley and AIC will look to make it two wins in a row on Saturday.

NOTABLES
  • LEADING THE NATION: Saint Anselm leads all NCAA Division II programs in turnovers gained, recording 27 on the season through nine games. The Hawks also rank fourth in fumbles recovered (14), eighth in first downs conceded (126), and 13th in passing yards allowed (155.0). Saint Anselm has allowed 22 or more points in a game just once this season.
  • LAST TIME OUT: Saint Anselm controlled the time of possession against Assumption, holding a nearly 10-minute edge over the Greyhounds, but could not cash in outside of the four field goals. The Hawks also ran nearly 30 more plays than Assumption in defeat, compiling 280 aerial yards but posting minus-20 rushing yards on the day.
The Hawks found themselves in the red zone on four occasions, but settled for field goals in three of those attempts.
  • STINGING THE YELLOW JACKETS: Earlier this season, Saint Anselm picked up a convincing 56-7 victory over American International in non-conference play. The Hawks racked up eight touchdowns (six receiving, two rushing) and scored the third-most points in a single game in team history. Junior quarterback Drew Willoughby (Austin, Texas) completed 21-of-31 passes, firing six touchdowns (single-game Grappone Stadium record for Saint Anselm) while racking up 246 aerial yards. Willoughby now has 31 career passing touchdowns for Saint Anselm in just 11 career games played.
  • POSTED UP: With a 24-20 victory on the road at Post on Saturday, Oct. 22, the Hawks reached five wins in a campaign for the first time since 2014. No Saint Anselm football team since 1894 has logged seven wins in a season and a year-ending victory at American International would give the Hawks their first six-win season since 2014.
  • NOT "OUT OF OUR LEAGUE": The team's victory over Post gave Saint Anselm a perfect 3-0 record in non-conference play for the first time in the team's modern-day history. With the departure of Stonehill to the NCAA Division I ranks, the Hawks had the opportunity for three non-league games in one season for the first time.
  • WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU?: Anthony Brown (Belton, Texas) has caught a pass in each of his 29 career games at Saint Anselm, the fourth-longest streak in Hawks history. Justin Bernard '15, the all-time NCAA Division II leader for career passes caught (386), had a program-record streak of 41 games with at least one reception from Sept. 9, 2010 through Nov. 15, 2014. Brown has hauled in 16 career touchdowns, needing two on Saturday against American International to pass Marc Wilson '12 for third place on the all-time list.
