After taking three of four from Southern New Hampshire University over the weekend, the Hawks look to keep momentum going against the Greyhounds with a 12-2 record along with a 9-1 record against Northeast-10 Conference opponents. Saint Anselm is 16th in the most recent National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II National Coaches' Poll, based on Wednesday's latest release.
The Hawks swept the Greyhounds a week ago by scores of 3-0 and 8-2 as senior
Morgan Perry (Bethany, Conn.) held the Assumption bats at bay, striking out 15 batters and only allowing three hits while junior
Bre Klaiber (Ironton, Ohio) secured the Hawks game two victory with a grand slam.

HAWKS NOTES
- With its victories over Southern New Hampshire this past weekend, the Hawks, ranked No. 16 in NCAA Division II according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) national poll, improved to 12-2 overall on the year while the Penmen dropped to 2-6 on the season.
- Saint Anselm is led by the bats of Klaiber and sophomore Kylie Fitzpatrick (Danville, N.H.), who have both came through in the clutch for the Hawks in the past week. Both student-athletes have recorded batting averages above .349 and Fitzpatrick leads the squad in runs scored with 11 along with hit by pitches at four. She also has recorded hits in every single contest that the Hawks competed in over the week, totaling 10 hits with two-hit performances against Assumption and Southern New Hampshire in game two's.
- Senior Shannon Colson (Rochester, N.H.) is four hits away from tying Nicole Boucher '14 for second place on the all-time hits list after earning three hits over the weekend, including one in the Hawks series finale over the Penmen. She also needs two more runs scored to tie for third place on the all-time runs list with Annamaria (Addonizio) Spiriti '97 with 110, which is also 21 away from the program leader Kathleen Caringi '99 with 131.
- In game two against Assumption, Colson is projected to tie the program record of most games started in a single career at Saint Anselm with 175 that her former teammate Jordan O'Connor '19 also accomplished.
- Senior Lauren Washburn (Carmichael, Calif.) need four more hits to reach her 100th career hit as she holds 96 prior to Tuesday's contests.
- Perry holds the fourth-best earned run average in the nation with a mark of 0.38. She has also earned wins in each game that she has started with seven while also shutting out her five those seven opponents. Over 47 innings pitched, she has only allowed two runs. Perry also has thrown 67 complete games in her career, ranking third on the all-time list and is eight away from second place with 75 - holding down that spot is Andrea Messina '03.
- Perry has struck out 94 batters so far this season, ranking first in the NE10 while sitting in 35th among all Division II pitchers. Her 9.40 strikeout-to-walk ratio ranks 15th in the nation.
- Sophomore McKenna Smith (Old Town, Maine) also holds an undefeated record in the circle this season, claiming three wins. Her 0.73 earned run average ranks second in the NE10 right behind her teammate, Perry, along with seven others nationally. As a team, the Hawks own the best earned-run average in all of Division II with a mark of 0.69.
- In the field, Fitzpatrick has registered a season-high five putouts over the weekend in game two of Saturday's doubleheader against Southern New Hampshire University.
- Freshman Gracie O'Hara (Shrewsbury, Mass.) has made an instant impact in the Hawks recent success this season, posting nine hits with five runs batted in over 30 at-bats. In the final game of the Sunday doubleheader, O'Hara scored two runs to help the Hawks claim victory, while also hitting the second double of her career.
PREVIEWING THE GREYHOUNDS
- The Greyhounds finished with a 4-6 overall record prior to the cancellation of the 2020 spring sports season. Alyssa Beaton led the Greyhounds with a .444 batting average and 12 hits. Mia Patriacca posted a 2-1 record in 2020 with a 2.13 ERA over 26.1 innings pitched. Mia Nowicki struck out 23 batters in 25.2 innings pitched.
- After falling to the Hawks on Wednesday, Apr. 7, the Greyhounds swept the season series against Stonehill this past weekend, earning them an 8-4 record. The Greyhounds cruised to a 7-2 final in game one and battled to a 6-4 final over the Skyhawks in game two on Sunday.
- The Greyhounds hold the top two batting averages in the entire Northeast-10 Conference in 2021. So far this season, Mckenzie Richards leads the team and the NE10 with a .516 batting average along with 16 hits. She has also driven in six runs over 12 games. Alyssa Beaton is the other Greyhounds student-athlete to have earned a batting average of above .450. Beaton has posted a .455 batting average with 15 hits and five runs scored. Beaton has also had a team-high five doubles while Alyssa Bialakis leads the team with 12 runs batted in.
- The Greyhounds rank second in the nation with a .972 fielding percentage.
- Erin Barry and Mia Nowicki have both earned four victories on the season as Barry has fired four complete games. Barry holds a 2.10 earned run average while her teammate, Nowicki, has a mark of 3.20. Nowicki has struck out 23 batters over her six appearances this season.
ALL-TIME vs. ASSUMPTION
- Since 2004, the Hawks hold a slim 21-17 advantage in the all-time series, including eight straight wins from 2018 to Tuesday. In the past 10 matchups between both teams, the Hawks hold a 9-1 record.
- In that span, the Hawks have totaled 161 runs, which averages 4.24 per game since Apr. 25, 2004.
- The Hawks and Greyhounds faced off between each other earlier in the 2021 season on Wednesday, Apr. 7. Game one featured the Hawks shutting out the Greyhounds, 3-0, including Perry fanning 15 batters. In game two, the Hawks followed their opening victory with a solid offensive performance, powered by a Klaiber grand slam. The two runs allowed snapped a five-game shutout streak for the Hawks.
