Perry earns NE10 Pitcher of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior Morgan Perry (Bethany, Conn.) of the nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College softball team was named Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Perry and the Hawks are currently ranked 18th in all of NCAA Division II, according to National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Coaches' Poll. This is Perry's eighth career Pitcher of the Week honor from the NE10, earning three such honors in 2018 and twice in both 2019 and 2020. With eight awards in her career, she ties Lisa Petell '99 for the most in a single-career by a Hawks student-athlete. 

She has helped the Hawks to a 3-1 record so far in 2021. This past week, Perry earned her second win of the season against American International College on Wednesday, throwing a two-hit shutout while striking out 15 batters in the process. She was one strikeout away from tying her Sunday total of 16 against New Haven, where she matcehd the program record for single-game strikeouts. Perry claimed her 34th win in the past 35 appearances and is 2-0 this year with 31 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched.

She currently is tied for first in the NE10 with a perfect earned run average (0.00), which her teammate McKenna Smith (Old Town, Maine) also holds over six innings. Over two appearances, Perry has fanned 31 batters, tying for the third most in the conference.

Saint Anselm returns to action on Saturday, Apr. 3 at Bentley for the start of a four-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
