Saint Anselm owns a 3-3 overall record after posting back-to-back losses to open Northeast-10 Conference play. The Hawks are in search of their first home win of the year on Saturday against Holy Family, a team they will be playing for the first time.

Holy Family carries a 4-2 record into play on Saturday. The Tigers are coming off a 79-61 loss to Kutztown on Wednesday, but prior to that defeat, Holy Family had won four in a row after a season-opening loss to Franklin Pierce.

Upon the conclusion of Saturday's game, Saint Anselm will have played each member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference at least once. The only other present-day East Region that the Hawks have not played is Saint Thomas Aquinas.

Fans attending Saturday's game are expected to familiarize themselves with the College's spectator and ticketing policies.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM

  • Saint Anselm is 3-1 against non-conference opponents this season with its one loss coming to 2020-21 postseason team, Dominican (N.Y.). The Hawks' other quality non-league wins have come against the reigning East Region Champions from Daemen and the regional runner-up, Roberts Wesleyan.
  • The Hawks have been out-rebounded in all but one game, the team's 74-59 victory over Caldwell on Saturday, Nov. 20. Saint Anselm was edged on the boards just three times during the team's 2019-20 campaign.
  • Saint Anselm ranks second in the NE10 with a .795 free throw percentage and has gone to the line 88 times to date, the third-most trips to the charity stripe in the conference. Senior Peyton Steinman (Pittsfield, Mass.), one of the top performers from the free throw line in program history, has made 88.2% of her free throws (30-for-34).
  • Steinman has scored exactly 1,300 career points in a 95-game career for the Hawks, ranking 12th all-time. Her 369 career free throws is second in team history – she trails Addie Stiles '99, the all-time leader with 381 free throws made. Steinman's career free throw percentage (third all-time) is .839 (369-for-440) and ranks sixth among active NCAA Division II student-athletes.
  • Steinman can crack the program's top-10 list with 25 points on Saturday against Holy Family – she currently ranks eighth in team annals with 13.7 points per game. She is one of just 10 student-athletes in team history with over 100 career three-point baskets.
  • Against Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday, freshman Melanie Hoyt (Stamford, N.Y.) led Saint Anselm in point scoring, making eight out of her 12 shots from the floor to tally 16 points. On the year, she is shooting 17-for-26 from the field (65.4%) and has steadily increased her point production from two in her debut to a career-high against the Penmen.

SCOUTING HOLY FAMILY

  • The Tigers are one of the region's top rebounding teams, averaging 43.2 caroms per game to lead the CACC. Eight student-athletes are averaging north of five rebounds per game across the team's first six contests.
  • Holy Family did not compete during the 2020-21 season but as recently as 2019-20, the team competed in the CACC Championship game. The team was picked to finish fourth in the South Division of the CACC, according to the league's preseason coaches' poll.
  • Moe Moore is one of the team's top performers, averaging 14.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. She was named CACC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this week, tallying 10 steals and posting a 21-point performance against Shippensburg. Moore also posted her second double-double of the season against Molloy, pulling down 14 rebounds and scoring 13 points.
  • Holy Family's field goal percentage of .328 ranks 12th out of 13 programs in the CACC. The Tigers are dead last with five blocked shots on the year, averaging exactly one per game.
