The Mavericks restored their two-goal advantage in the 55th minute when Nicolai Lysoe scored off another corner kick, giving Mercy a 3-1 lead.

The Hawks continued to battle and pulled back within one in the 81st minute when a free kick from Oelkers resulted in a Mercy own goal, making it a 3-2 contest with just under 10 minutes remaining.

Sophomore Calvin Jaques created one final chance for the Hawks in the 86th minute, forcing Harry Cooke to make a save as Saint Anselm searched for the equalizer.
