COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three members of the Saint Anselm College field hockey team were named to the 2026 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Watchlist, the organization announced Thursday.
Junior midfielder Meghan Carey, senior defender Laurentien van den Akker, and senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Wehrum represent the Hawks on the 42-player watchlist, which recognizes student-athletes who have demonstrated a high level of achievement and are considered to have strong potential for NFHCA All-Region and All-American consideration during the 2026 season.
Carey returns for her junior season after earning NFHCA All-East Region First Team honors in 2025. She started all 22 games played, recording seven goals and one assist for 15 points while helping the Hawks capture the Northeast 10 Championship and advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the fourth consecutive season.
Van den Akker enters her senior season after being named to the NFHCA All-East Region Second Team in 2025. A key contributor on the Saint Anselm back line, she also earned NE10 Third Team All-Conference recognition and was instrumental in a defensive unit that helped the Hawks post a 16-6 overall record and win the program's third Northeast 10 Championship.
Wehrum returns for her senior season after earning NFHCA All-East Region Second Team honors last year. She started 17 of her 19 appearances in goal, posting a 14-4 record, a 0.74 goals-against average, a .791 save percentage, and nine shutouts.
The Hawks were selected second in the 2026 NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll and sixth in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II Preseason Poll. Saint Anselm opens its 2026 campaign at home against Molloy University on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. at Grappone Stadium.
