COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Anselm College baseball team split its regular season finale with Saint Michael's on Saturday afternoon, taking game one before falling in a high-scoring game two.
Game 1 – Saint Anselm 4 (23-20, 21-14 NE10) Saint Michael's 1 (19-25, 17-18 NE10) - 7 inn.

How it Happened
After four scoreless innings, junior
Mavrick Bourdeau grounded out in the fifth inning, but allowed B. Gonzalez to score to put the Hawks up 1-0 lead.
Saint Anselm added to its advantage in the sixth inning when sophomore
Gavin Rigney drew a bases-loaded walk, forcing in X.Gonzalez to make it 2-0.
The Hawks extended their lead in the seventh with Slauson hitting a double to right-center field, allowing sophomore
Jackson Powers to score. B. Gonzalez followed with an RBI single to right center field, allowing Slauson to score and putting the Hawks on top, 4-0 at the end of the seventh inning.
The Purple Knights were able to earn one run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Saint Anselm held on for the victory, 4-1.
Game 2 – Saint Anselm 10 (23-21, 21-15 NE10) Saint Michael's 11 (20-25, 18-18 NE10) - 9 inn.
Highlights
- Bourdeau went 2-for-4, with two runs and three RBI's.
- Sophomore Coleson Kaluza went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
- X. Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two RBI's and a walk.
- Freshman Jake Smith went 3-for-5 with a run scored.
- Sophomore Jake Boudreau pitched three innings, allowing two hits while striking out four Purple Knights.
How it Happened
The Hawks struck first in game two, taking a 2-0 lead in the opening inning on an RBI single from Powers and a sacrifice fly from X. Gonzalez.
Saint Michael's responded by scoring six unanswered runs in the second inning, and continued its surge with four more in the third to take a 10-2 lead.
Saint Anselm began to chip away in the fifth inning when Rigney grounded out to score Smith, making the score 10-3. Saint Michael's added another run the sixth to extend its lead to 11-3.
The Hawks mounted a late comeback in the seventh inning with Slauson reaching on a fielding error, allowing Bourdeau to score. X. Gonzalez then singled through the left side to bring sophomore
Austin Brune home to cut the deficit to 11-5.
The rally continued in the eighth inning with a double to left-center field from Kaluza to bring in B. Gonzalez, followed by Bourdeau's double, allowing both Kaluza and Rigney to score. Slauson then singled to center field to bring in the final Hawks run of the inning to make the score 9-11.
Saint Michael's added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Hawks notched another run in the ninth with a sacrifice fly by Bourdeau to have a final score of 10-12 in favor of the Purple Knights.

With the split, the Hawks (23-21, 21-15 NE10) secured the No. 3 seed in the Northeast 10 Conference postseason. Saint Anselm will host No. 6 Pace University at Sullivan Park in Manchester, N.H. on Tuesday, May 5. Game time is to be announced.
