SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior
Rose Reitmeyer set the Saint Anselm College softball all-time home run record as the Hawks split a Northeast 10 Conference doubleheader at American International College on Friday afternoon, earning a 3-2 extra-inning victory in game one before falling 7-2 in the nightcap at Judy Groff Field.
Game 1: Saint Anselm 3 (22-27, 14-19 NE10), American International 2 (13-32, 9-24 NE10) – 8 inn.
Highlights
- Senior Kendra Lee improved to 12-10 in the circle, tossing a complete-game eight-inning effort while allowing seven hits and two unearned runs with seven strikeouts.
- Reitmeyer powered the offense, going 2-4 with two home runs and two RBI, as she's now up to 15 home runs this season. Reitmeyer now sits at 26 career home runs, topping the all-time list in the Saint Anselm softball record book.
- Junior Caitlyn Duquette went 2-4 with a pair of singles and a run scored while classmate Abby Wrinn recorded a double as she went 1-4.
- Junior Sarah Cipriani added an RBI while classmate Brooke Tardugno and sophomore Katie Fox each tallied a hit.
How it Happened
Saint Anselm struck first in the opening inning as Reitmeyer launched a solo home run before Cipriani followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.
American International answered with an unearned run in the second and tied the game in the fourth, capitalizing on Saint Anselm miscues to even the score at 2-2.
Both pitchers settled in from there, as Lee worked out of multiple jams—including a bases-loaded threat in the seventh—to keep the game tied.
In the eighth, Reitmeyer delivered again, blasting her second solo home run of the game to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead.
Lee closed the door in the bottom half, retiring the side to secure the extra-inning victory.
Game 2: American International 7 (14-32, 10-24 NE10), Saint Anselm 2 (22-28, 14-20 NE10)

- Saint Anselm is now 34-50 all-time against American Int'l.
- Duquette led the Hawks in game two, finishing 2-4, while Wrinn drove in an RBI and went 1-3.

How it Happened
Saint Anselm opened the scoring in the first inning, taking advantage of an error to grab a 1-0 lead.
American International answered in the second to tie the game before taking a 2-1 lead on a solo home run in the fourth.
The Hawks evened the score in the fifth as Fox scored on a sacrifice fly from Wrinn to make it 2-2.
The game turned in the sixth inning, when American International capitalized on multiple defensive errors, scoring five runs—only one of which was earned—to take a 7-2 lead.
Saint Anselm was unable to respond in the final frame as American International secured the split.
