  • Sophomore Jackson Powers tallied multiple hits, drove in a run, and scored twice.

How it Happened

After two scoreless innings, Saint Anselm struck first with a three-run third inning. Sophomore Xavier Gonzalez plated two runs with a single to right before a sacrifice fly brought home another to give the Hawks a 3-1 lead.

Saint Anselm added to their advantage in the fifth inning as sophomore Peter Fischer drove in a run with a single, extending the lead to 4-1.

SNHU answered in the sixth with a single and a three-run homerun, but Saint Anselm continued their momentum with three runs in the bottom half. Slauson delivered a two-run double, and Powers followed with an RBI single as the Hawks regained a 7-5 edge.

The Penmen pulled away in the late innings, stringing together runs to take control and extending their lead to 18-10 at the end of the seventh.

Saint Anselm continued to compete down the stretch, highlighted by Kaluza's three-run homer in the seventh.

In the eighth, the Hawks added another run on a fielder's choice off the bat of junior Austin Brune that brought home Slauson.

Southern New Hampshire tacked on their final run in the ninth before Saint Anselm threatened in its final at-bats, but were unable to mount a comeback.
