MANCHESTER, N.H. – In a matchup between two nationally ranked programs, the No. 21 Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-12 decision to No. 13 Adelphi University in Northeast 10 Conference action on Tuesday evening at Grappone Stadium.

How it Happened
After falling behind 2-0 in the opening 2:32, the Hawks answered with a 4-0 run over the next 4:24 as Rowley, McDermod, Herrick, and Hill all scored to give Saint Anselm a 4-2 lead midway through the first quarter. Adelphi closed the frame with back-to-back goals, evening the contest at 4-4 after 15 minutes.
The Panthers opened the second quarter by scoring three of the first four goals to build a 7-5 edge, but Saint Anselm stayed within striking distance behind goals from O'Brien and Hill to make it a one-goal game. A late man-up marker by Adelphi sent the visitors into halftime with a 9-7 advantage.
Adelphi created separation in the third, netting four goals in the stanza while limiting the Hawks to just one tally from Herrick. The Panthers pushed their lead to 13-8 entering the final quarter.
Saint Anselm made one final push in the fourth as Herrick, Hill, Herrick again, and Rowley trimmed the deficit to 14-12 with 7:09 to play. The Panthers, however, scored the game's final two goals in the closing 3:22 to secure the conference victory.
