WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team, ranked No. 21 in the nation in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, overcame a slow start to defeat Palm Beach Atlantic University by a final score of 10-8 on Friday evening at the PBA Lacrosse Field.

- Junior Alyssa Hill and senior Brianna Fruci each recorded a team-high four points with two goals and two assists coming from Hill while Fruci posted four assists.
- Freshman Kendall Herrick notched a hat trick, leading all Saint Anselm scorers, while causing one turnover.
- Junior Lucy Mawn came up with two draw controls while securing one goal and one assist.
- Junior Julia Rowley scored the eventual game-winning goal in the fourth quarter on her only tally of the contest.
- Sophomore classmates Ayla McDermod and Devan Spinale each registered one goal as McDermod had a team-high four draw controls along with one ground ball and one caused turnover. Spinale had four ground balls and three draw controls to her credit.
- Junior Eliza Vecchio and senior Elyse Scales each caused two turnovers as Scales picked up three ground balls.
- Sophomore goalie Aiko Fujita made seven saves between the pipes while securing five ground balls, a team-best.
- Saint Anselm put 18 shots on target compared to PBA's 15.
- The Hawks won the draw control battle, 12-8.
- Saint Anselm went 18-for-22 (81.8%) on clears while limiting the Sailfish to 70.8% efficiency (17-for-24).
- Saint Anselm went 2-1 over a three-game slate over its Spring Break trip, defeating Quincy and Palm Beach Atlantic while falling to No. 14 Rollins.

How it Happened
Trailing 4-0 after the first quarter, junior Kyra O'Connell scored the Hawks' first goal of the contest 17 seconds into the second quarter. Hill posted her first goal of the game 5:31 later to cut Saint Anselm's deficit to two with 9:12 left in the half.
Palm Beach Atlantic scored the final goal of the half with 3:38 left to play before halftime to take a 5-2 lead into the break.
The Hawks scored three consecutive goals out of the half, with Herrick, Spinale, and McDermod all striking in a span of 5:54 to tie the score at 5-5.
The Sailfish responded less than a minute later to regain their lead before Saint Anselm rattled off three straight goals in the final 5:52 of the third quarter to take an 8-6 lead into the final period. Hill, Herrick, and Mawn each found the back of the net to help the Hawks gain their first lead of the game.
PBA cut it to a one-goal game 4:18 into the fourth on an unassisted goal. Just 1:34 later, Rowley would finish a nifty feed from Mawn to make it 9-7. The Sailfish would not quit late as they once again whittled the Hawks' lead down to one with 4:27 to play on a man-up goal. With under a minute to play, Herrick finished off a feed from Fruci to secure the hat trick and seal the victory for Saint Anselm.

The Hawks (4-3) will head back to New England to take on Saint Michael's College (1-7) on the road in their Northeast 10 Conference opener on Wednesday, March 25. The opening draw from Duffy Field is set for 4 p.m.
