DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Fueled by a 10-point performance by junior Alyssa Hill, the nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team took down Quincy University, 18-11, in a non-conference neutral-site game played at the Embry-Riddle Lacrosse Field on Monday evening.
Highlights
- Hill posted six goals and four points to lead the offense with 10 points. She tacked on one draw control and one ground ball.
- Senior captain Brianna Fruci recorded seven points with five assists.
- Sophomore Ayla McDermod notched three draw controls and scored four times. She also notched one caused turnover and one ground ball.
- Junior Lucy Mawn registered a team-high seven draw controls along with two ground balls and a caused turnover. She scored twice to finish with two points.
- Senior Lucy Davis and freshman Kendall Herrick each notched a pair of goals to round out the scoring. Herrick matched McDermod with three draw controls.
- Saint Anselm scored three goals on four free position shots, with Mawn, McDermod, and Hill each converting.
- Sophomore goalie Aiko Fujita made 10 saves in the victory.
- Saint Anselm put 21 shots on goal compared to Quincy's 18 and won the draw control battle, 16-15.
- The Hawks of Saint Anselm scored five man-up goals and one man-down goal.
How it Happened
Saint Anselm took a 2-0 lead just 2:08 into the opening frame with unassisted goals from McDermod and Hill. After Quincy responded with two straight goals to tie the game, McDermod and Mawn helped Saint Anselm regain its two-goal edge, 4-2, with 7:47 left in the first.
Quincy would add another tally 39 seconds later before Saint Anselm put together a six-goal swing over the next 11:30 of action to hold a 10-3 lead with 11:29 left to play in the half. A pair of Quincy goals cut its deficit to five goals. Hill scored her fourth of the half for Saint Anselm with 2:26 to play before Quincy got one back as Saint Anselm held an 11-6 lead at the break.
Saint Anselm scored two man-up goals in the third as the Hawks outscored Quincy 4-1 in the frame to take a 15-7 lead into the fourth.
Quincy narrowly outscored Saint Anselm in the fourth, but the deficit proved to be too much as Saint Anselm improved to 3-2 with the victory.

The Hawks (3-2) will travel to Winter Park, Fla. for their third ranked matchup of the season against No. 14 Rollins College (8-1) on Wednesday, March 18. The opening draw is set for 4 p.m. from Barker Family Stadium.
