How it Happened
Macaulay opened the scoring, recording Hawks lone power play goal of the night 11:55 into the opening frame to put the Hawks in front, 1-0.
Tullo doubled the lead 5:05 into the second period, recording her second point of the contest while increasing the Hawks' lead to 2-0. Sacred Heart struck back 4:16 later as Peyton Bennetts registered a goal to cut the Pioneers' deficit to one goal with 10:39 left in the second. With 7:55 to play before the second intermission, Moss walked out from below the goal line and restored the Hawks' two goal cushion.
With 3:45 remaining in regulation, Sacred Heart still trailed by two goals and pulled its netminder Julia Petruno for the extra skater. Following a Saint Anselm infraction, the Pioneers went on 6-on-4 advantage, which the Hawks successfully killed to maintain their two-goal edge. Czukoski made one save while DeCoteau notched two blocks in the final 1:13 to fend off a Sacred Heart comeback bid and seal the victory.
