Men’s Golf Opens Saint Anselm Fall Invitational at Candia Woods

CANDIA, N.H. — The Saint Anselm College men's golf team completed the opening round of the Saint Anselm Fall Invitational on Wednesday at Candia Woods Golf Links.

The Hawks had two teams compete on the par-71, 6,550-yard course, with Saint Anselm's B team finishing the opening round in fourth place at 15-over. The Hawks' A team sits two strokes behind in fifth place at 17-over. Southern New Hampshire leads the seven-team field at four-over, followed by Assumption in second at six-over and Bentley in third at 12-over.

How it Happened

  • Senior Brady Warren and sophomore James Smith led the Hawks individually, tying for eighth after each carded a two-over 73. Warren made the turn at even-par 35 and recorded three birdies during his round, while Smith carded a one-over 36 on the front nine and a one-over 37 on the back.
  • Junior Brandon Vitarisi, junior Charles Conway and sophomore Carl Sirrianna finished in a tie for 15th after each shot a four-over 75. Vitarisi recorded three birdies, Conway tallied three birdies and Sirrianna registered three consecutive birdies on holes nine through 11.
  • Junior Jack Murray and sophomore Aidan Finn each carded a five-over 76 to finish tied for 19th. Murray bounced back from a six-over 41 on the front nine by playing the back nine at one-under 35, highlighted by birdies on the 10th and 14th holes. Finn recorded four birdies during his round.
  • Sophomore Carter Browning finished tied for 24th with a six-over 77. Browning carded a three-over 40 on the front nine before shooting a three-over 37 on the back, highlighted by a birdie on the par-three 17th.
  • Junior Joe Aronis and freshman Joey DaCosta each finished at seven-over with rounds of 78 to tie for 28th. Aronis played the front nine at one-over 36, while DaCosta carded a two-over 37 on the opening nine.
  • Sophomore Pat Clair, competing as an individual, rounded out the Saint Anselm competitors with a 12-over 83 to finish 42nd.
