MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College football team fell to Southern Connecticut State University, 40-10, in Northeast 10 Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Grappone Stadium.

- Sophomore Evan Dunker completed 15 of 28 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown in his first collegiate start at quarterback.
- Sophomore Kilan Jean-Paul Perry caught two passes for 67 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

- Senior Jon Hosney and junior Dangelo Innamorato led the Saint Anselm defense with eight tackles apiece.
- Sophomore Tyler Villalta recorded 118 all-purpose yards, including 24 rushing yards and 94 kickoff-return yards.
- Saint Anselm recorded 294 yards of total offense and 16 first downs, while Southern Connecticut State finished with 518 yards and 23 first downs.
How It Happened
Southern Connecticut State opened the scoring with a four-play, 66-yard drive, capped by a one-yard touchdown run from John Amaning with 13:40 remaining in the first quarter. The Owls added a pair of Daniel Benzi field goals from 32 and 24 yards later in the quarter to take a 13-0 lead after the opening 15 minutes.
Southern Connecticut State extended its advantage to 20-0 early in the second quarter when Seth Westover hauled in a 65-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Jorgensen with 13:07 remaining in the half. Saint Anselm responded with a 15-play, 59-yard drive that ended with Guarnieri connecting on a 41-yard field goal as time expired, sending the Hawks into halftime trailing 20-3.
Saint Anselm opened the second half with a five-play, 72-yard scoring drive, as Jean-Paul Perry caught a 56-yard touchdown pass from Dunker with 12:00 remaining in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 20-10. The Owls answered with a 21-yard field goal later in the quarter, while Guarnieri's 29-yard attempt with 1:29 remaining was unsuccessful. Southern Connecticut State carried a 23-10 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Owls added three scores in the final 15 minutes to pull away. Amaning scored his second one-yard touchdown of the afternoon with 13:51 remaining, Benzi connected on a 35-yard field goal with 12:07 left, and Anthony Rudiman capped the scoring with a nine-yard touchdown run with 4:05 remaining.

Saint Anselm (0-5, 0-2 NE10) returns to action following the bye on Saturday, Oct. 17, traveling to Waltham, Mass. to face Bentley University in a 2 p.m. Northeast 10 Conference matchup at Peter Yetten Field. The Hawks will meet the Falcons for the second time this season after falling to Bentley, 48-14, in a non-conference clash on Sept. 12 at Grappone Stadium.
