MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College volleyball team fell in four sets, 3-1, in a first-ever meeting against Minnesota Crookston at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium on Friday.

Highlights
- Junior Hollyn Frano led the Hawks with 11 points, notching a team-high nine kills with two solo blocks and 10 digs.
- Junior captain Melis Kocak and sophomore Taylor Lacerda each had seven kills; Lacerda also had eight digs, a service ace, and a solo block. Kocak tallied two block assists and six digs.
- Freshman McKenna O'Connell recorded a game-high 26 assists in her collegiate debut, also leading the Hawks with 13 digs as she finished with a double-double.
- The Golden Eagles' offense was fueled by Madison Carsten, who notched 23 kills with four assists, two blocks, and 14 digs. Libero Kailee Waasdorp tallied 30 digs, defending the back line.
SET 1 | In a set that was mostly back-and-forth, the Golden Eagles erased a four-point deficit with a 10-2 run, catapulting Minn.-Crookston to a 23-19 lead. The Golden Eagles secured the last two points in the set, taking a 1-0 match lead, 25-21.
SET 2 | Minnesota Crookston controlled the second set early on, jumping out to a 12-5 advantage. After three points from the Hawks, the Golden Eagles went on a 12-1 scoring outburst. The final point came on a Carsten kill as Minn.-Crookston won the set, 25-11.
SET 3 | After falling behind 5-4, Saint Anselm used a 6-1 run, led by three Frano kills, to take a 9-5 lead. The Hawks built on their momentum, leading 17-12 before the Golden Eagles rallied to tie the score at 20-20. After Minn.-Crookston took a 23-22 lead, the Hawks came back, scoring three straight points to win the frame, 25-23.
SET 4 | Both teams traded points to begin the fourth set until four unanswered scores from the Golden Eagles gave them a 9-5 lead. Minn.-Crookston built an insurmountable lead, 16-8, midway through the set, and despite a late rally from the Hawks that made the score 24-21, the Golden Eagles finished out the match with a 25-21 set win.
