QUEENS, N.Y. – Saint Anselm College women's tennis senior Irene Garbo battled but fell to Sixtine Goubet of Queens College (N.Y.) in a third-set tiebreak, 3-6, 6-4, 11-9, in the quarterfinal round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regionals on Sunday afternoon at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Despite the narrow loss, Garbo capped off a standout weekend, having upset back-to-back No. 2 seeds to advance to the final eight.
Four Hawks competed in the 2025 edition of the tournament as seniors Julie Börschig, Natalia Gonzalez Ramos, and Camila Heredia Osante also made the trip to the Big Apple.
This marked the first trip back to the event since 2023 when Garbo was the lone representative for Saint Anselm.
