QUEENS, N.Y. – Four members of the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team competed in the opening two days of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regionals at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Seniors Julie Börschig, Irene Garbo, Natalia Gonzalez Ramos, and Camila Heredia Osante made the trip to the Big Apple to represent the Hawks in the regional tournament hosted by Queens College.
Doubles
- Börschig and Heredia Osante fell in the Round of 32 (8-6) to Yelyzaveta Sylka and Siana Macdonald of Wilington University (Del.)
- Garbo and Gonzalez Ramos fell to Zuzanna Witkowska and Oda Solevag Halvorsen of Adelphi (8-4) in the Round of 32.
Singles
- Gonzalez Ramos fell in the Round of 128 (6-2, 6-2) to Regina Ruiz of Queens College (N.Y.)
- Börschig fell in the Round of 64 in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) to Sixtine Goubet of Queens College (N.Y.)
- Garbo defeated Gloria Barcaro of Wilmington University (Del.) in the Round of 64 (6-1, 6-3).
- Heredia Osante lost to Siana Macdonald of Wilmington University (Del.) in the Round of 64 (6-4, 6-0).
- Garbo was victorious over Lois Tsui of Southern New Hampshire University (7-5, 6-4) in the Round of 32.
- In the Round of 16, Garbo came out on top (6-1, 6-2) over Dajana Abadzic of Southern New Hampshire University.
Garbo will return to action on Sunday, Sep. 28 in a quarterfinal matchup against Goubet of Queens.
