Field Hockey Defeats Pace in NE10 Opener, 3-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College field hockey team opened its Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) slate with a 3-1 victory over Pace University on Saturday evening at Grappone Stadium.

  • The Hawks increased their winning streak to five games against the Setters while improving to 10-3 in the all-time series.
  • Saint Anselm outshot Pace 25-5, with 13 shots landing on target.
  • Saint Anselm earned eight penalty corners while limiting the visitors to just one corner try.
  • Senior Millie Forster converted a penalty stroke in the third quarter, marking the first goal from the penalty spot for the Hawks in the 2025 campaign.
  • Junior keeper Mackenzie Wehrum made two saves in her second victory of the season.

How it Happened

Sophomore Ruby Reid put the Hawks up in the final minute of the first half, finishing a feed from freshman Breanna Shorey to make it 1-0 at the break.

With 1:18 remaining in the third quarter, senior Millie Forster converted on a penalty stroke, putting the Hawks up by a pair heading into the final frame.

Pace would strike 4:40 into the fourth quarter to draw within one as Kyleigh Kearney found the back of the goal. A shot from sophomore Meghan Carey was nearly stopped by a Pace defender on the goal line, but it trickled through with 6:44 to play to put Saint Anselm back up by two. The Setters were not allowed a shot in the waning moments as the Hawks held on for their first NE10 victory of the season.
