How it Happened
Assumption opened the scoring with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Kameron Robbins, which helped give Assumption a 7-0 lead just 6:11 into the contest. After a miscue on special teams that led to a safety and two points for the Greyhounds, Assumption struck again, this time in the second quarter, when Matt Barrino returned a blocked punt to the house, helping the hosts earn an early 16-0 lead.
Following the two-minute warning, the Greyhounds blocked Saint Anselm field goal attempt to keep the Hawks off the board. The next Assumption drive resulted in senior Jaidin Haynes putting Saint Anselm on the board with an 18-yard scoop-and-score as classmate Mike Weaver, Jr. blocked the Greyhounds' punt from deep in their own territory. Fellow senior Ronan Noke rushed in for the two-point conversion to make it a one-score game, 16-8, at the half.
After a scoreless third, Assumption's Robbins rumbled in for two more scores in the opening 7:13 of the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.
