HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE):

  • Monks drove in two more runs for Franklin Pierce in the sixth with a single that scored both Hewlette and Boyd. He later scored on a wild pitch, making it an 8-1 game.
  • Monks came through again in the seventh with another two-RBI single that scored Boyd and Kiobel Lugo and made it 10-1.
  • Saint Anselm got back on the board in the eighth after a leadoff home run by freshman George Slauson (Plymouth, Mass.).
