HOW IT HAPPENED:
- For the fifth straight game, Saint Anselm scored the game's first three goals and took an early 3-0 lead. Andrews, junior Chris Claflin (Newton, Mass.), and freshman Matt Lemay (Westminster, Mass.) all scored for the Hawks inside the opening six minutes.
- Assumption responded with three straight goals of their own. Cameron Theriault and Brian Shortt scored in the first quarter before Boomer Staunton found the back of the net for the Greyhounds to tie it at 3-3 midway through the second.
- Hawks sophomore goaltender Finn Granara (Reading, Mass.) made six saves in the second quarter to help keep the game tied at halftime.
- Midway through the third quarter, Lemay put Saint Anselm back in front with his second goal of the game off a feed from sophomore Mark Boyle (Reading, Mass.).
- With 2:32 left in the third, senior Colin Mulvey (Readong, Mass.) added another for the Hawks to increase their lead to two goals.
- 47 seconds later, Ben McHugh answered for the Greyhounds at the other end with a goal to make it a one-goal game entering the fourth.
- Just over a minute into the final quarter, Lemay secured his hat trick with Claflin picking up an assist as Saint Anselm extended the lead back up to a pair.
- Assumption remained diligent and scored the next two goals to tie the score at 6-6. Ryan Bogar cut the deficit to one with 8:52 left and, with 2:45 to go, Shortt tied it at 6-6.
- Neither side scored for the remainder of the fourth and the game headed to overtime. Granara made a huge save on the final possession of regulation, denying a point blank opportunity by Bogar.
- The Hawks won the opening faceoff to begin overtime. After setting up their offense, Lemay found Andrews for the game-winning goal 1:15 into the extra segment to give Saint Anselm the win.
