HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Saint Anselm scored the game's first five goals to jump out to a commanding 5-0 lead. The Hawks have now scored at least the first three goals in each of their last four games.
  • Junior Charlie Dean (North Andover, Mass.) opened the scoring under four minutes in for the visitors with his second goal in as many games. Junior Chris Claflin (Newton, Mass.) followed that up with a goal before feeding Lemay as the Hawks struck twice in under a minute to take a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
  • After being held without a shot in the entire opening quarter, Franklin Pierce fired the first two shots on target in the second. Sophomore goaltender Finn Granara (Reading, Mass.) was up to the task for Saint Anselm and turned aside both shots to keep his team in front by three.
  • The Hawks added two more goals midway through the quarter to increase their lead to 5-0. Lemay added his second off a pass from senior Joe Lombardi (Holliston, Mass.) and just over a minute later, Lemay set up junior Maverick Lyon (Albany, Ore.) for another score as the visitors maintained a five-goal lead at halftime.
  • The third quarter was a defensive battle as the two teams combined for 10 turnovers (five each) and just one goal. The Hawks held a 5-2 edge in shots on goal during the quarter, but it was the Ravens who finally got on the board with 1:37 remaining. Jackson Philiion scored for the home team to make it 5-1.
  • After a quiet offensive quarter in the third, Saint Anselm erupted with a five-goal fourth quarter to blow the game open. The Hawks scored four straight goals in a little over three minutes to start the final period. Senior Colin Mulvey (Reading, Mass.) scored two of those, while Lemay secured the hat trick with his third and also found Lombardi for a goal as the visitors extended the lead to 9-1.
  • With five minutes remaining, Chris Hunt found the back of the net for just the second goal of the day for Franklin Pierce.
  • Mulvey responded with his third goal of the quarter with four minutes remaining. Granara went on to make four saves in the fourth and the Hawks ran away with the win by a final score of 10-2.
