MANCHESTER, N.H. – On Wednesday evening, the Saint Anselm College men's basketball suffered an 83-62 loss to New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Hawks split the season series with the Chargers after defeating them on the road in January. The defeat drops Saint Anselm to sixth place in the conference standings, while New Haven remains in eighth place with the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Saint Anselm shot the ball at a decent rate, but only made 22 total field goals out of 53 attempts (41.5 percent). The Hawks made 11 shots in each half.
- New Haven had an excellent night shooting with 32 made shots out of 68 attempts (47.1 percent). The Chargers went 15 for 30 (50.0 percent) in the second half.
- The Hawks struggled from long range and were only able to knock down five of their 21 three-point attempts (23.8 percent).
- The Chargers shot the lights out from deep, making 16 of their 34 shots from behind the arc (47.1 percent) including nine out of 18 (50.0 percent) in the second half.
- Saint Anselm got to the free throw line more than three times the amount of their opposition. The Hawks shot 13 for 21 at the charity stripe (61.9 percent), while the Chargers made just three of their six free throw attempts (50.0 percent).
- The Hawks recorded 11 assists on their 22 made field goals. The Chargers tallied 20 assists on their 32 made baskets.
- The rebounding battle was extremely even with New Haven maintaining a slight 36-35 advantage. The Chargers grabbed nine offensive rebounds in the game compared to six offensive boards pulled down by the Hawks.
- New Haven outscored Saint Anselm in the paint, 32-28, and in second chance points, 6-4. The Hawks held a 12-8 edge in fastbreak points.
- Bench scoring was limited with the Hawks leading in that category, 14-10. Freshman Will Davies (Saco, Maine) posted nine points off the bench to lead the Saint Anselm reserves.
- Five players for Saint Anselm finished the game with eight or more points. New Haven saw only six different players score with three of them finishing in double figures.
- The game featured only two ties and two lead changes, which all came in the first few minutes of the game. The Chargers led by as many as 28 points and held a lead of at least 20 points for the final 7:44 of the game.
- New Haven capitalized on 11 turnovers by Saint Anselm with 13 points of their own. The Hawks scored only four points off of six turnovers committed by the Chargers.
- Defensively, Saint Anselm recorded one block and five steals. New Haven did not record a block, but posted eight steals.
- Senior Sean McCarthy (Cork, Ireland) scored 14 points (5-8 FG, 4-6 FT) and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Hawks. Junior Josh Morissette (Exeter, N.H.) scored 12 points and was the only other Hawk to finish in double figures.
- Ethan Simmon dropped a game-high 30 points (11-20 FG, 8-14 3PT) and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Chargers.
- This marked the 38th all-time meeting between these two programs. Saint Anselm falls to 26-12 overall against New Haven in the series that began in 1984.
