MANCHESTER, N.H. – Three members of the nationally-ranked #8 Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team have been selected to various Division II Preseason All-America rosters ahead of the 2025 season. The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA), USA Lacrosse Magazine, and Inside Lacrosse (a lacrosse media entity and ESPN affiliate) all announced their Preseason All-America teams recently that featured the trio of Hawks student-athletes.

Senior Colin Mulvey (Reading, Mass.) and juniors Chris Claflin (Newton, Mass.) and Colby Goodchild (Reading, Mass.) were all named Division II Preseason All-Americans for Saint Anselm, who is coming off of a historic 2024 season that saw the team reach the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship Semifinals for the first time in program history.

Goodchild was named a Preseason Second Team All-American by USILA and a Preseason Third Team All-American by Inside Lacrosse. The junior was picked as a short stick defensive midfielder on both rosters. Claflin and Mulvey were each selected on the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-America squad. Claflin was chosen as a member of the Second Team as a midfielder, while Mulvey was named an Honorable Mention for the same position. All three Hawks received Preseason All-America recognition for the first time in their careers.

Both Claflin and Goodchild are coming off of standout seasons a year ago as sophomores. Both players received Northeast-10 (NE10) All-Conference Third Team and USILA All-North Region Honorable Mention distinction in 2024.

In addition, Claflin was named a USILA All-American Honorable Mention. In his second year with the Hawks, he set new career-highs in goals (21), assists (12), and points (33), the last of which ranked fifth on the team. The midfielder scooped up 12 ground balls and was one of just five 20-plus goalscorers for Saint Anselm last season. The Newton native also registered three hat tricks and scored at least once in 12 of his 17 games played.

On top of his success on the field, Goodchild also stood out in the classroom. He was one of just two men's lacrosse student-athletes named to the NE10's 2024 Spring Academic All-Conference roster. As one of the team's best young defenders, the short stick defensive midfielder snagged 17 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers while covering some of the best attacking midfielders in the nation last year. Goodchild was a key piece of the Saint Anselm defensive unit that allowed just 9.36 goals per game, the second-fewest in the NE10. The Reading native produced his first collegiate assist on April 2nd to help defeat crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire, 14-6.

Despite not receiving any postseason accolades last year, Mulvey still ended the season on an impressive note. He finished second on the team with 29 goals and added seven assists for 36 points, the fourth-highest total on the squad. Mulvey ended the year on fire with goals in each of his last six games. During that six-game span, the attacker scored 11 times, including seven goals in the NCAA tournament. In the NCAA First Round against Bentley, Mulvey recorded a hat trick in the first quarter to help Saint Anselm advance to the Quarterfinals for the second straight season.

The Hawks have now won 10 or more games and qualified for the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship in four straight seasons, neither of which have ever been done in any four-year stretch in program history.

Saint Anselm is set to open its season on the road against Frostburg State on Sunday, March 2nd at 12:00 p.m. in Frostburg, Md.
