MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman goaltender Kayla Czukoski, the reigning New England Women's Hockey Alliance Rookie of the Week, made 50 saves as the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team was handed a 2-0 loss by No. 12 Yale University on Tuesday evening at Sullivan Arena.

• Freshman netminder Kayla Czukoski, fresh off her fourth NEWHA Rookie of the Week nod, made 50 saves in the loss. This marks the third time in her first collegiate campaign that the Exton, Pa. native has eclipsed 50 saves in a game.
• Sophomore Lucy DeCoteau, the reigning NEWHA Player of the Week, blocked three shots, tied for the most on the team with freshman Madison Macaulay.
• Senior captain Brooklyn Schneiderhan tallied a team-high four shots on goal.
• The Hawks' penalty killers successfully silenced all four Yale power play opportunities.
• This marked the fourth meeting in the all-time series against the Bulldogs, dating back to the 2021 season.
• This is the first contest for Saint Anselm against a ranked opponent since the 2023-24 season when the Hawks were defeated by then No. 13/14 Boston College.

How it Happened

The Hawks were outshot 36-10 over the course of the first 40 minutes, with Czukoski stepping up to keep the game level at the second intermission.

The Bulldogs struck just 3:12 into the third on an offensive zone faceoff win, as Hannah Weyerhaeuser picked up the loose puck and beat Czukoski with a far-side shot from the bottom of the circle to make it 1-0. Yale struck again just 1:06 later to double its lead as Mariya Rauf tipped in a shot from the point for the game's final goal.

Saint Anselm (5-6-0, 5-1-0 NEWHA) will return to action with a weekend series at Post University (3-8-1, 3-2-1 NEWHA) over the weekend at the Sports Center of Connecticut. The Hawks and Eagles will drop the puck in game one of the series on Friday, Nov. 7 at 8:00 p.m. before hitting the ice for a Saturday matinee, set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
