MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team kicked off its weekend series against New England Women's Hockey Alliance foe LIU by earning a 2-1 victory on Friday night at Sullivan Arena, extending its winning streak against league opponents to five games.

How it Happened
The Sharks were first on the board as Anya Weilandt found the back of the net with 3:25 to play in the opening frame. The Hawks quickly responded, as senior captain Brooklyn Schneiderhan scored on a rebound chance out in front to tie the score at 1-1 before the first intermission.
Midway through the second period, sophomore Nicola Forth found the back of the net on a feed from classmate Kismet Dogan to put Saint Anselm up 2-1.
Freshman goaltender Kayla Czukoski made 17 saves over the final 30 minutes of action to keep the Hawks' lead intact until the final buzzer.

The Hawks (8-6-0, 8-1-0 NEWHA) will face off against the Sharks (4-6-1, 2-6-1 NEWHA) on Saturday, Nov. 15 in game two of the weekend series. Puck drop is slated for 3:00 p.m. at Sullivan Arena.
