How it Happened
After Deneen left the pitch in the first minute due to injury, the Hawks played down a player, giving way to an early Franklin Pierce goal in the fifth minute off the foot of Claudia Peirce after a pair of nice passes from Mackenzie Shean and Jenni Huttunen.
The Hawks' first scoring opportunity came in the 12th minute when a crossing pass off the foot of senior
Madison DiNapoli floated into the box, deflecting off the chest of junior
Daniella Atherton as the ball went just wide of the net.
Atherton had another shot from the far left corner of the field that nearly found its way to the top right corner of the goal, but Franklin Pierce goalie Jess LaCroix made a leaping save to her left to keep the Ravens in front in the 13th minute.
Swidorski kept the Hawks within one with a pair of saves, one in the 15th minute and another in the 19th.
Swidorski opened the second half with an impressive diving save in the 50th minute off a right-footed shot from a few yards outside the box.
The Hawks got on the board in the 54th minute after a foul from the edge of the box by the Ravens led to a Deneen free kick, as she rocketed a right-footed shot to the top left corner of the net that went over the outstretched arm of LaCroix to tie the game, 1-1.
A foul in the box by the Hawks gave Franklin Pierce a penalty kick that Jenni Huttunen wouldn't waste, converting with her right foot to the bottom right corner of the net as the Ravens retook the lead in the 58th minute, 2-1.
The Hawks tied the match again in the 75th minute after Patturelli dribbled through the Ravens' backline and into the box before sending a pass to Deneen, who was waiting in the box, one-timing the shot over the head of LaCroix to make the score 2-2.
Deneen nearly completed the hat trick in the 88th minute on another free kick from about 10 yards away from the box, but her shot whizzed by the right goal post and out of play for a goal kick. The match would end in a stalemate, 2-2.
