GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College field hockey team's five-game winning streak was halted by Adelphi University in a Northeast 10 (NE10) showdown at Motamed Field, as the Hawks fell to the Panthers by a final score of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
Despite outshooting the Panthers 9-6 in the opening half, the Hawks found themselves trailing at halftime as Adelphi was able to get on the board just seven minutes into the opening half on a Caroline Beakes goal.
Neither team was able to score in the second half as Adelphi outshot the Hawks 6-2 over the final 30 minutes of action. Saint Anselm's two key chances came early in the fourth as junior Meghan Smith put two shots towards goal, with one getting blocked and one going wide.

Saint Anselm (7-4, 4-1 NE10) returns to the friendly confines of Grappone Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 8 for an NE10 matchup against American International College (2-8, 1-4 NE10). A start time of 7:00 p.m. is scheduled.
