Women’s Tennis Falls to FPU, 4-3, in Fall Finale

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team was narrowly defeated by Northeast 10 Conference and Granite State foe, Franklin Pierce University, by a final score of 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon at the STA Tennis Courts.

  • Junior Claire Kochenbach fell at No. 5 to Candela Tortosa, falling by an 0-6, 0-6 result.
  • Garbo defeated Ines Gabarro on court one, 6-1, 6-3, to cut the deficit back to one.
  • Senior Julie Börschig was defeated, 2-6, 2-6, on court two by Sara Gonzalez.
  • Gonzalez Ramos earned a hard-fought 6-4, 6-3 victory over Gabriela Yamate at No. 3.
  • Sophomore Polina Makarenko earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 over Ainhoa Ordonez to tie the match at 3-3.
  • Senior Camila Heredia Osante fell by a score of 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 at No. 6.

Saint Anselm (4-4. 3-4 NE10) will press pause for the winter months before returning to play in the spring season. The Hawks are scheduled to take on Adelphi University (6-0, 6-0 NE10) on Saturday, March 28 in a home NE10 matchup.
