How it Happened
The Hawks got on the board late in the first period as freshman Grace Littler forced a Stonehill turnover deep in the attacking zone, found junior Hailey Tullo in the slot. Tullo's backhand shot produced a rebound that sophomore Eden Granley buried for her first collegiate goal with 1:39 to play before the first intermission.
The Skyhawks tied things up 5:21 into the second period on a powerplay goal from Reagan Whynot. Saint Anselm regained its lead later as sophomore Lucy DeCoteau registered her fourth goal of the season, with assists credited to senior Brooklyn Schneiderhan and sophomore Kismet Dogan, to make it 2-1 in favor of the visitors. The Skyhawks responded 31 seconds later as Seina Spadone tied the game back up at 2-2.
The Hawks were once again on top 1:09 into the final period of regulation as freshman Grace Littler notched her first collegiate goal, burying a feed from Tullo on a 2-on-1 opportunity to regain a one-goal lead for Saint Anselm.
With just 1:31 remaining in regulation, Stonehill's Maddi Achtyl found the back of the net to send the game to overtime.
Achtyl was impeded on a breakaway chance early in the overtime period and was awarded a penalty shot, which she buried, to give the Skyhawks their first win over Saint Anselm this season.
