How it Happened
Both offenses got off to a slow start, with the first shot on goal being recorded by sophomore
Amarys Jimenez at the 21st minute.
Right before halftime, freshman
Connie Patturelli had an excellent shot at the goal, but the shot was blocked by an AIC defender, keeping the match scoreless heading into the break.
Saint Anselm notched the deciding goal in the 68th minute, when Deneen
positioned herself in front of the AIC net and knocked in a rebound off the head of Jerome from a well-placed corner kick off the foot of Schneider.
Despite not logging another goal, the Hawks continued to apply pressure, putting shots on net in the 75th, 80th, and 85th minutes.
Saint Anselm dominated on the stat sheet, outshooting the Yellow Jackets by 9, with 6 of those being on net. AIC faced stifling defense all night and was unable to record a shot during the contest as the Hawks won, 1-0.
