STRUTHERS, Ohio – The Saint Anselm College women's bowling team opened its 2025-26 season at the Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic hosted by Youngstown State University at Holiday Bowl on Friday.
How it Happened
The Hawks began weekend play by facing off against several National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) preseason-ranked opponents, including No. 2 Nebraska, No. 21 Valparaiso University, and No. 25 Niagara University.
The Hawks began the day with a Baker match against the No. 2-ranked Cornhuskers, falling 901-1035. Saint Anselm continued Baker play, falling to Niagara 884-998, followed by a loss to Valparaiso, 844-991.
The Hawks secured their first victory of the season, defeating the Cavaliers of Walsh University in Baker play, 819-740. The final match of the day for the Hawks came against Duquesne University as Saint Anselm fell 695-913.

The Hawks will be back at Holiday Bowl tomorrow morning for day two of the Penguin Classic. Saint Anselm opens play against Walsh University (Ohio) at 9:25 a.m., followed by matches against Vanderbilt University, Sacred Heart University, Coppin State University, and Alabama A&M University.
