HOW IT HAPPENED:
- New Haven struck first in Wednesday evenings match-up as transfer 5th year Paige Cote notched a triple from the top of the key. Senior Melanie Hoyt (Stamford, N.Y.) tabbed Saint Anselm's first bucket in the paint off of a feed from classmate Katie Lemanski (Haymarket, Va.). The two teams would trade buckets before the Chargers would extend their lead to nine off of another Cote three pointer. Tatum Forbes (Pawtucket, R.I.) would stop their run before the end of the quarter with a drive and score to bring the tally to 13-6 in favor of the home team.
- The bleeding would continue for the Hawks in the second quarter as the Chargers would open with a 14-0 run. Lemanski stopped the run with a trip to the charity stripe before the hot hand of Lindsay Hogan struck from the left wing to extend the lead to 22. First year Avery Romps (Greenland, N.H.) would check into the match and look to spark a response with a made pull-up in the paint and floater two possessions later. The Hawks would rally to bring the game within 18 points but not before the Chargers made their seventh three of the game.
- Out of halftime the Hawks would score first off of a floater in the paint form Lemanski, but the Chargers would have a response from Schuyler Coles. The 20-point deficit would prove to be a challenge to get past for the Hawks as they would find momentum the home team would counter. The third quarter would come to a close with another triple from the Chargers as they went into the final 10-minutes with a 56-36 lead.
- Saint Anselm found the first score in the fourth quarter as Hoyt pulled up from the elbow. The Chargers would maintain an 18-point lead through the majority of the quarter, but Romps would continue her successful shooting tallying another pull up make. The last score for the Hawks would come from junior Harmony Marquez (Rutherford, N.J.) with a made driving layup.
