EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team was defeated in a non-conference road matchup against NCAA Division I opponent Long Island (LIU) on Saturday evening by a final score of 14-1.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Long Island more than doubled up Saint Anselm in shots on goal, 53-25. The Sharks posted double digit shot totals in each period, including 23 in the second.
- The Sharks scored five goals in the first period, three in the second, and six in the third. The Hawks scored their lone goal late in the third period.
- Long Island dominated at the faceoff dot with 45 wins out of 71 attempts (63.4 percent). Saint Anselm won 26 faceoffs out of 71 attempts (36.6 percent).
- Senior Max Burum (Marshfield, Mass.) led the Hawks with eight faceoff wins out of 20 attempts (40.0 percent). Anthony Lucarelli went 13 of 16 (81.3 percent) in the circle to lead the Sharks.
- On the defensive side, Saint Anselm blocked 15 shots in the game, while Long Island blocked five shots. Junior Michael Martignetti (Winchester, Mass.) logged a game-high six blocks for the Hawks.
- The Sharks went 2-5 on the power play and recorded eight shots on goal during the man advantage. The Hawks were held scoreless on two power play opportunities despite three shots on goal.
- Senior Hunter Brackett (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) scored the lone goal of the night for Saint Anselm off a feed from Burum. Brackett now leads the team in both goals (six) and points (13) so far this season. The forward is currently tied for fourth in the NE10 in goals and is tied for fifth in points, while also ranking in a tie for eighth in the league with seven assists.
- 11 different players scored at least one goal for Long Island, including Lucarelli, Sixen Jennersjö, and Carter Rapalje, who all scored twice. The Sharks had 15 players record at least one point in the game.
- Junior goaltender Tucker Hanson (Boxford, Mass.) made 27 saves in 40 minutes between the pipes for Saint Anselm. Sophomore goaltender PJ Benites (Tyngsborough, Mass.) made 12 stops in the remaining 20 minutes of action for the Hawks.
- Noah Rupprecht earned the win in goal for Long Island after making 16 saves in 32:50 of playing time. He was relieved by Michael Polston, who finished with eight saves over the final 27:10 of action.
- This marked the sixth all-time meeting between Saint Anselm and Long Island. The Hawks fall to 1-5 against the Sharks in the series that began in 2021.
