EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Saint Anselm College women's bowling team resumed their season over the weekend at the New England Cup hosted by Bryant.
The Hawks were held without a win during the one-day event after suffering losses in traditional play to Bryant (978-810), Merrimack (939-800), and Sacred Heart (941-660). The team then lost their elimination match to Merrimack in baker play, 867-810.
Freshman
Katy McNemar (Chambersburg, Pa.) led Saint Anselm with a 197.3 average, good for sixth overall during team play. McNemar recorded strikes in 60 percent of her frames and bowled a score of 256 in game one. During baker play, she struck 60 percent of her frames while doubling 83 percent of her available attempts and having a 23.8 tenth frame average.
Freshman
Kenzie Davis (Barrington, N.H.) also shined during the first event of the 2025 calendar year for the Hawks. She averaged 177.7 during team play, striking 36.7 percent of her attempts and finishing the day with games of 193 and 189. Davis boasted an impressive 9.5 first ball average with a 19.67 frame average in addition to a 60 percent strike rate in those games. She also double struck all available frames and set up the tenth frame cleanly every time as well.
"This event showed the resilience and adaptability of our team as we were bitten by the illness bug and were down a couple of bowlers," said head coach
Tim Frye '11. "Today was an opportunity for others and we showed a great competitive level all day despite our record. It wasn't quite the start we were hoping for, but it is definitely something that we can build on and will ultimately benefit our team this next half of the season."
